    There are numerous activities for all ages on the lake.

    THE MS SEESTERN:
    A walk along the lake to Sarnen, followed by a boat trip on the MS Seestern. You will get to know the lake and its region during a total of 6 stops – so why not book a complete round trip? If you are lucky, you will meet former captain Franz Weiss on the boat. He can tell you many stories about the lake and all the villages around it and always has a joke on his lips.
    His two grandsons Michel and Alain work as captains today. Entertaining and cosy – the perfect excursion for the whole family.

    SACHSELN LIDO:
    The lido in Sachseln has a shallow shore to access Lake Sarnen for a swim. A small playing area, a kiosk with bistro – perfect for a short break by the lake.

    We have already introduced you to the Sachseln lido, but there are numerous other highlights in Sachseln. Here is a selection:

    SUMSI STEAM TRAIN:
    The Sumsi steam train runs in dry weather from mid-April to the beginning of October, on the 1st and 3rd weekends of the month from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. It is one of the biggest highlights for children in Sachseln and runs through and around the large children's playground right by the lake.

    CHILDREN'S PLAYGROUND:
    A ship, a large slide and much more – the playground right by the lake in Sachseln is perfect for entertaining hours with children.

    BRUDER KLAUS MUSEUM:
    Brother Klaus, whose full name is Niklaus von der Flüe, is the patron saint of Switzerland and was canonised in 1947. Right opposite our hotel, you will find the Brother Klaus Museum, which gives you an insight into the story of his life.

    Visit the geographical centre of Switzerland and the Flüeli Ranft hiking and skiing area.

    THE CENTRE OF SWITZERLAND:
    Did you know where the exact geographical centre of Switzerland is? Near a pretty little alp in the Kleine Melchtal valley near Sachseln.
    The exact WGS84 coordinates are 46° 48' 4" N, 8° 13' 36" E.
    The Älggialp can be reached from Sachseln by car, by foot or by mountain bike; at weekends and on public holidays, the narrow mountain road can only be travelled alternately uphill and downhill by car.

    FLÜELI-RANFT CIRCULAR WALK:
    Without a doubt, the Flüeli-Ranft circular walk is part of every holiday in Sachseln for those who love hiking. It takes you to the places where Niklaus von der Flüe, one of the most influential figures in Swiss history, did his work as a man, mediator and mystic.
